ClimGen version numbering
Version numbers appearing as: 99.99.99 are interpreted as follows:
Ie. 2.23.03
The first number indicates a major update.
For example, a new module or simulation model is added.
A new version should be distributed to all users.
Users should be aware of that there may be some changes in file formats,
since some parameters may either be added or deleted.
The second number indicates a minor update ranging from 0-100.
This number increase when some changes have been made especially the
addition of parameters or something that will affect the user's display.
Once a distribution disk has been made for a user, this number
should be incremented and the third number set back to 0.
All users would appreciate this update.
Users should be aware of that there may be some changes in file formats,
since some parameters may either be added or deleted.
The third number ranging from 0-100 indicates a minor update between
generations of distribution disks.
There will be no changes in file formats.
ClimGen revisions
2008 (Version 4)
-
-
4.04.17
-- Sept 15, 2008
-
- Monthly mean peak 1/2 hour rain value input grid not working.
- Generate storm events no enabling when and monthly values were 0.0.
- NCDC daily surface data import was sometimes not converting the
precipitation units correctly. (I had apparently fixed this at some point.)
-
4.04.15a
Mar 18, 2008
-
- The solar angle equations we are using were not set up for locations above the Artic circle.
I have made adjustments to correct the trigonometric problems in these equations that were from another source.
These adjustments should also fix any related problems with respect to Solar radiation estimation,
but we have never had a location so far north
(we originally intended ClimGen to be used for prepare weather data for agricultural simulations).
-
4.04.15
Jan 11, 2008
-
- There was a significant out of stack overflow/memory error that prevented version 4.04.14 from performing the site analysis.
- Added LARS-WG UED import utility.
- Site analysis now only opens the weather data file one time
allowing for a little faster site analysis.
-
4.04.14 Jan 11, 2008
-
- Generation now outputs reference evapotranspiration.
- ET parameters added to Generate data.
2005-2007 (Version 4)
-
- 4.02 to 4.04.13 Jan 1, 2004 - Jun 16, 2006
-
The details of these versions were not recorded.
- UED spatial interpolation utility.
- More UED import/export utilities.
- UED Tabular Data Format conversion utility and TDF format editor.
- Command line operation mode option.
- Solar radiation estimation now an option with warning.
2004 (Version 4)
-
- 4.02.01 Jan 15, 2004
-
- Saturation vapor pressure is not calculated with respect
to water or ice depending of freezing conditions.
This was added in an attempt to improve relative humidity in freezing conditions.
- 4.02.00 Jan 7, 2004
-
- Fixed problem with generated data quality tracking when
the base quality is invalid.
- Rearranged "Describe location" wizard.
- Added "EarthInfo Summary of the day" import wizard.

- 3.08.00 July 24, 2000
-
- Reworked aridity factor optimization
- Reworked VDP optimization
- Reworked Dew point optimization
- Now inputs UED or original .DAT files
- Now outputs UED or original .DAT files
- Now chooses longest period of continuous solar radiation, not the latest period.
- 3.07.00 June 20, 2000
-
- UED file generation.
- 30 minute storm event generation.

-
- Added estimation of max and min std temp for dry and wet.
- Climate classification (enumeration) was not saving.
- 3.05.08 May 15, 1999

-
- From Francesc Castellvi's work, separate quadratic splines for min temperature.
1998 (Version 3)
-
- 3.05.06 May 1, 1998
-
- Fixed a number of division by zero errors encountered occasionally
during daily data anaysis.
- Now puts a constant monthly average for wind speed when generating or
estimating data for years where some real data already exists.
If no monthly averages are available, a constant annual value is output.
(When generating data, daily values can be generated as before).
- Some additional translations.
